Review: School of Hotel Administration, Master of Management in Hospitality

Degree Offered: MMH - Master of Management in Hospitality; M.S., Ph.D. Format: Campus
Program Description: The AACSB accredited Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) program prepares students with strategic vision and the skills to implement that vision, an area of specialization (e.g. real estate development, finance, revenue management, information technology, multi-unit hotel or restaurant operations, etc.) and a global perspective. Unique program features include assessment by industry executives, an industry mentorship, and a real-world team consulting project. Backed by outstanding Hotel School and University resources, and coupled with the amazing networking opportunities with Cornell alumni, other industry leaders who work with the Hotel School and its faculty, Cornell's MMH is second-to-none in graduate hospitality management education. Like an MBA, the MMH prepares students to be theory-based, action-oriented leaders of executive management teams and entrepreneurial ventures. MMH graduates are entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, developers, analysts, consultants, corporate directors, and managers of hotels, resorts, and spas. Access to these alumni generates outstanding career opportunities around the world. Accreditation: The MMH degree is accredited by the AACSB. International Student Requirements: The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required of applicants whose native language is not English, with some exceptions. Those who have received at least two years of university-level instruction in English, at a university located in a country whose official language is English, are not required to take the TOEFL or IELTS exams but are welcome to do so. Results of both exams are valid for two years. International students may also be required to pass a writing benchmark. All of our classes are in English and require participation in class discussions, as well as intensive writing, reading, and involvement in group projects. Successful candidates will have a full command of both spoken and written English. Even if your TOEFL/IELTS score exceeds the minimum requirement, you may still be required to enroll in an intensive English course, preferably in the United States, before you begin the program.
